Courmayeur

This is the day Dani and I went for a little vacation in a northern part of Italy where the mountains are. The place is called Courmayeur, and it's almost near France. Almost everyone there speaks half Italian and half French.

The houses are like apartments, but they have big compounds of gardens, and animal coops.

We stayed at Dani's grandma's rental house. It is on the second floor up the stairs, but the storage room is under it.The bathroom, however, is in another room outside the corridor.

And I managed to persuade Dani for a picture because the image of the stairs is very nice and I needed a subject matter.

Later in the evening, we went out looking for Crêpes (see here). They were so yummy! After that, I went taking a picture of the mountain from far.

The next day, I went for a walk right after a very heavy lunch (a lot of pasta, a lot of cherries, and a lot of tomatoes). When Dani noticed that I was missing, he warned his grandma since he thought I was in the bathroom. So, his grandma followed me, and we went for a short walk across the neighbourhood.

We passed by two dogs barking at each other under a cherry tree. Then we stopped at a small room where, as Dani's grandma said, was a place for women in the past to gather and do laundry together.

The water was crazy cold that I couldn't even dip my finger long enough in it.

Right after that, we headed back home. On our way, we stopped by a notice board to check for news, and walked through the back alley of the house, where I found a coop.

The chickens apparently are kept to produce eggs and meat. This reminds me of my old house in Jalan Stesyen, Taiping, where we could keep animals freely.

On the third day, Dani, his grandma, and I, went all together to La Thouile. There was a cable car station for people who wish to climb up the mountain to ski. We found out that most of the shops were closed because it was too early for tourists. But, we were fortunate that this was the chance when there were not many people around, and I could take a very nice picture of the river there.

There were so many snails along the trails. And worse, they don't have shells and gave me goosebumps. Also, after taking a long walk while eating gelato, we made his grandma take a photograph of me and Dani. However, we had sunlight from behind. For me it's still good, since we hardly have any pictures taken together.

The fourth day was flying fast. I had to go to toilet so badly but we had to leave early in the morning to catch a bus for a city called Aosta. The bus ride took 30 minutes, and as soon as we reached there, we were welcomed by a friend of Dani's grandma. Her name is Maria.

She was explaining so much about the places that she knows, since Aosta is her hometown. However, my mind was drifting elsewhere. I was more focused on taking pictures of the big walls that used to surround the city.

It was getting boring past 10 a.m. because my feet felt tired and Dani felt hot. We were hoping we could have gone by car, so more snapshots for me to take. Since there was nothing much to see, I went taking random pictures around, including the streets.

Maria also brought us to the library. It was full of students. Of course, it's a library, what to expect.

And then we stopped at this building:

I'm not sure what was this building in the past, but I'm hoping there's no more kids spraying graffiti art around, like what they did to this one. There was something written on the building though, I don't know French.

The last day in Courmayeur was fun. I spent the day with Dani going back to Aosta, this time, we went throughout the streets, checking all the souvenirs around. I even bought one for myself.

My camera however was running out of battery. I could take only some pictures of the bridge that connects two mountains;

and a clock tower, right before the camera died.

It was indeed a great experience. I wish someday I could come here again with the recharger of my camera.
